“THE BURNT ORANGE HERESY” A Gripping Thriller

Very Alfred Hitchcockesque the movie The Burnt Orange Heresy enters movie houses around the country. The right venue for the film, the story is gripping and provides some unexpected action excitement. Much like Hitchcock the film has twists and a story that will have you spellbound.

Professed Art Critic James Figueras (Claes Bang) is living in Milan, Italy and gives lectures to budding writers and art lovers. At one such address Berenice Hollis (Elizabeth Debicki) introduces herself and the two hit it off. After an evening of sex James asks her to attend a meeting with him at the opulent home of Joseph Cassidy (Mick Jagger), an affluent art dealer. While there Cassidy takes a liking to the Berenice and then has a private conversation with James. Read more…

“The Fall of the American Empire” Comedy Askew

Quirky, predictable and somewhat inconceivable, combined with a script that’s two hours of French Canadian dialogue, The Fall of the American Empire’s a bit of a chore to watch. That said, the acting is quite good, the film production value gets good marks and the comedy does work as the movie progresses.

Pierre-Paul Daoust (Alexandre Landry) is an ordinary guy, but has the oddity of being cautious about everything. Unless a notable person has made a statement that will back up what others say to him, it’s not a truism. He’s even too careful about what he says to his longtime girlfriend Linda (Florence Longpré), especially about sex. Oh, he wants to have sex with her, but is afraid she will leave him if he asks.
