In the movie The Ledge, the writer takes very little time with character development and gets right down to the center of the “who what where and why.” Now you may get the impression that this may be problematic to the entertainment value, but you would be wrong as this fine production keeps you on edge to the gut wrenching finale. Do you like a mystery film with a lot of twists and turns? For those who enjoy trying to crack a case before it’s all played out on the screen there’s Last Looks with a storyline that’s great for guessing right up to the exciting finale. The story is played out by some very good actors that meld into their characters extremely well and put on a good show. The story does get quite quirky however, so buckle up for a lot of brutal bruising. Read more…

A story of revenge, freedom from evil and a fight for existence, the animated action adventure film The Spine of Night is now available for home viewing in several formats including 4K. The fantasy level is pretty high here, but most followers of animated mysticism will eat it up. However be cautioned that the film does have an abundance of killing with visuals that are not for the meek. A quote from Gizmodo’s io9 sums it all up “One of the Sickest, Coolest, most Mind-Bending Animated films we’ve ever seen” Read more…

A surprise filled film, the movie South of Heaven has been released on Blu-ray and DVD for home viewing. The film gets exciting as it moves along with a lot of twist while establishing the characters developed by Director and co-screenwriter Aharon KIeshales. If you like the works of Writer/Director Wes Anderson, you’ll love The French Dispatch a quirky, homage to writer’s everywhere. Beyond the reasons for writing the script, there is a lot of fun in store as he treats his audience to a three act play that captivates as it gets played out by an amazing cast. For those who are not into dead pan comedy, creative cinematography, make-up, sets and a lot of old fashioned storytelling, it may be a bit too much whimsy. But, hang in there as much like his The Grand Budapest Hotel that took 4 Oscars and a Golden Globe, this Wes Anderson film is as good for all the same reasons. Read more…

Intentionally confusing, but very farfetched, the film Lucky takes a long time to set up before it lets you down. If anything positive comes from the film it does champion women who do fight back. Read more…

Being released on Blu-ray and DVD, the gutsy TV Series Gangs of London pulls together a fine cast and direction crew. Action packed and very dramatic it’s a reminder of films like Gangs of New York and The Godfather. But, make no mistake, this hard hitting crime thriller is definitely worth a watch all on its own. Choosing outer space for his next winning film, Writer and Director Neil Burger offers a galactic adventure with the movie Voyagers. The sci-fi adventure thriller transports his audience into the future using climate change as the base for finding a way to exit the Earth. The concept is very entertaining and with his young cast that really keeps his script lively and dramatic, this is one movie that teens and twenty something’s will glom on for its run in theaters. You really have to be a film buff of the seventies to enjoy this sinister B movie. Loaded with old style filming, special effects and stunts, Death Has Blue Eyes brings back a good measure of nostalgia. The film is the visionary of cult director Nico Mastorakis’s and his first debut for the screen. This one is mainly a collector’s item to add to your personal time capsule, but if softcore sex and a wicked plot are of interest this little ditty has both. The Blu-ray is loaded with bonus material and offers two screen size versions. Read more…
