THE FRENCH DISPATCH a Lot of Fun

If you like the works of Writer/Director Wes Anderson, you’ll love The French Dispatch a quirky, homage to writer’s everywhere. Beyond the reasons for writing the script, there is a lot of fun in store as he treats his audience to a three act play that captivates as it gets played out by an amazing cast. For those who are not into dead pan comedy, creative cinematography, make-up, sets and a lot of old fashioned storytelling, it may be a bit too much whimsy. But, hang in there as much like his The Grand Budapest Hotel that took 4 Oscars and a Golden Globe, this Wes Anderson film is as good for all the same reasons. Read more…

“THE WAY BACK” A Fight for Life

Taking it to the net, Ben Affleck gives his all for the camera as a man who has hit bottom. It’s a performance that brings out the serious side of a character and not anything like his superhero turns in the barrel. But, it’s what the doctor ordered as its classic Affleck and a joy to watch. If you want to see a comeback to cheer for, it’s Ben Affleck in The Way Back. Read more…

Nicely fashioned and certainly a topic for today’s climate of finding credible news, the film Run This Town opens this weekend. The film has some very good acting, the production values are high and the script captivating. Our life experiences influence what we do in our future and what our parents experience could also influence how we are as well. And, in tragedy and death we experience large amounts of loss that could also transfer to our unborn offspring. Lastly, we experience many ups and downs throughout our lifetime and how we react to those, good or bad, experiences make up who we are and how strong our will is to survive. “White Boy Rick” a True Story

Kind of a heart breaker, yet one can’t help thinking that it’s also self-deprecating. The movie White Boy Rick puts on a tour de force display of acting and directing in this unusual crime drama. Showing at least three sides to the true story, Director Yann Demange spreads the dialogue around involving family, gangs and the law. If it were a lesson to be learned, it would have been a welcomed script, but it’s not. Read more…
