Being released on Blu-ray and DVD, the gutsy TV Series Gangs of London pulls together a fine cast and direction crew. Action packed and very dramatic it’s a reminder of films like Gangs of New York and The Godfather. But, make no mistake, this hard hitting crime thriller is definitely worth a watch all on its own. Inspired by actual events, the movie The Reckoning takes you to the past where we find a township in the throes of the Black Plague. Most interesting is the panic that revolved around the very devastating virus that spread like wildfire through blood from an infected person. In this film we find a diabolical government telling the people that the plague is caused by the Devil and spread through Witchcraft. In modern day we are experiencing a similar attack by the COVID-19 virus that attacks the body through droplets from an infected victim, however due to modern medicines we are able to protect the populace and even cure victims from this outbreak. A coming of age story Bull tells a heartbreaking film that moves along at a fast pace and never lets up including the unexpected finale. You may have seen several films with this slice of life theme, but this one is really worth watching. Creepy and candid the true story Tape tells an explicit tale of the casting couch. It may not be a definitive look at recent events, but what does come to pass is a realistic view of one woman’s bane affected by a scam. Its show business at its lowest level of taking advantage of a young movie star wannabe who thinks she has struck gold. Openly informative while entertaining as a narrative, the film should scare sex tape scammers while warning bogus casting directors that it won’t be as easy as it was to steal ones dreams. Read more…

Enjoyable and compelling, the movie A Star is Born fills the screen with song and story. It’s like being in the front row of a concert, but with the feel you are part of the drama and romance as well. It’s a kick-off to the Oscars and the Golden Globes and those films before and later to be released will have an uphill climb to surpass what you’ll see in this film. If you can find a movie theater in your city that has Dolby Cinema (Dolby Atmos) you will not regret the up-charge for the special feeling you will get from A Star is Born. The film grabs you from the very start with its story involving the tragedy, heroism, and determination of a man and a woman dealing with a difficult recovery from traumatic circumstances. Out of the ordinary, the true life biography of Lili Elbe The Danish Girl opens this weekend. The drama features excellent performances by Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander so look for an Oscar nomination for either or both. A strong contender for best picture the movie Carol features a very good cast with performances that are sure to raise eyebrows, titillate and in some cases even repulse audiences during some explicit sexual scenes.
