Written Review by John Delia

If you enjoy films with a sinister plot, good acting and direction, Shattered should do the trick. It’s a devilish story with some nice twists to keep you off guard and a finale that may be kind of déjà vu, but don’t let it spoil your kinetic experience. Available in select theaters and some platforms for video on demand. Read more…

Review by John Delia

A surprise filled film, the movie South of Heaven has been released on Blu-ray and DVD for home viewing. The film gets exciting as it moves along with a lot of twist while establishing the characters developed by Director and co-screenwriter Aharon KIeshales. The fast moving story gets emotional while it spellbinds the viewer in its crime based theme with the many unexpected shocks leading to a turbulent finale. Read more…

“VOYAGERS” An Adventure Thriller

Review by John Delia

Choosing outer space for his next winning film, Writer and Director Neil Burger offers a galactic adventure with the movie Voyagers. The sci-fi adventure thriller transports his audience into the future using climate change as the base for finding a way to exit the Earth. The concept is very entertaining and with his young cast that really keeps his script lively and dramatic, this is one movie that teens and twenty something’s will glom on for its run in theaters. “DONNY’S BAR MITZVAH” On Prime Video

Review by John Delia

Now here’s a film that totally dysfunctional, shocking, nasty, vulgar, sickening, trashy, outlandish, and yet in a way disgustingly funny. It’s Called Donny’s Bar Mitzvah, but I really don’t think there’s ever been a Bar Mitzvah quite this ridiculous. All in fun, the writer director must have a very active imagination to pull this one off. Much like the classic Animal House and the more recent Neighbors, there’s no holds barred in this sick and twisted comedy. While I’m not going to grade with stars in fear of losing some of my audience, I still have to say it’s a pretty good flick for comedy fans who are not easily offended. Read more…

“DREAMLAND” Now on Blu-ray/DVD

Review by John Delia

A very good film for thrill seekers, Dreamland takes you into a world of the 1930’s where times are tough with crumbling farm lands and a country starving during the “Great Depression”. Margot Robbie leads a fine cast and she melts into a role that’s entrancing, deceitful and incisive. It’s an excellent character for her and she shines with her co-stars Finn Cole and Darby Camp.

(also check out Al McGhee’s video chat with director Matthew John Lawrence here at Your Entertainment Ticket)

When you think of a horror film you expect a lot of mayhem, monsters and ghastly scenes, and in the movie Uncle Peckerhead you get all three. The film targets not only the fear fan, but this one works on another level, hard rock music. All in fun, the movie starts out with a slide BASED ON A TRUE STORY and then proceeds to bring out the ghoul and bloody mess that ensues. The film has been released in select theaters so check your local listings. Read more…

‘Showgirls’ gets a Reprieve in “YOU DON’T NOMI”

Review by John Delia

If you were of age in the 1990’s and a fan of film, you probably checked out the movie Showgirls (1995), especially if you were male between the ages of 17 to 34. It was rated NC-17 for flesh and sex and the rating didn’t stop a lot of underage teens from sneaking a look after paying for a movie ticket to see Batman Forever. Popular for the wrong reasons however, the film received the designation “flop” for the poor box-office take of $20 million with a price tag of $45 million. The critic reviews mocked the film for its content and storyline with special attention to the gratuitous nudity. Read more…

Review by John Delia

VERY GOOD! The Sunlit Night is one of the most genuine films that bleeds romance, inspiration and a whole lot of life. The acting is superb, direction pin point and the camerawork outstanding. The story has a lot of heart and takes you from the ordinary to something different. Now on VOD the movie is a must see for romantics and young women who look forward to a life beyond their college years. Read more…

“THE TOBACCONIST” Compelling and Thought Provoking

Review by John Delia

A very arresting and alarming film, the compelling movie The Tobacconist puts you into the thick of things as the Nazis move to blanket all of Austria politically. Although allowing most all people to continue to work and run business as usual, in the late 1930’s the Jewish and Gypsy population were dealt a blow being stripped of their voting rights. It was the start of dark times for the two groups and this story depicts the oppression and the civil discord connected with Nazi discrimination notably in Vienna where the film takes place. – “Some of the information in this paragraph was obtained from Wikipedia’s history of Austria.” Read more…

“BABYTEETH” Sad and Emotional

Review by John Delia

Very sad and sometimes upsetting the film Babyteeth tells the story of a teenager with cancer and her wanting to have been loved by a boy and to make love before the end of her life. The acting is very good, but the story is all over the place. Whether it is intentional or a ploy as part of the plot, unfortunately it doesn’t work. What it does for sure is make the platitudinous story drag and lose some of its intended meaning. Read more…
