Review by John M. Delia, Jr.

A fun family film Dolittle comes to local theaters with an exciting adventure, characters and storyline. Nicely played by Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Dolittle, direction by Oscar winner Stephen Graham and with some amazing CGI, it’s a winner. Even if you’re not a youngster the movie spreads that feel-good satisfaction to any age. Make sure you watch this one at a local theatre with their big screens so you get the complete effect and enjoyment. Read more…

Review by John Delia

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil brings a powerhouse of Disney magic that will astound and delight everyone even on their home screens. Filled with so many characters that you will want to stop and count them as they fly by and even freeze frame them to get a better look. The direction is incredible keeping the main actors in character as they work in front of the stage screens. It’s the kind of wonderment that boggles the mind, especially with the opening scenes and later during the battle. Youngsters will enjoy the film and want to see it over and over again. Parents will marvel at the storyline that stretches the imagination beyond the first Maleficent movie. Whether it’s on 4k, Blu-ray or even DVD, the film is seamless and clear. Read more…

Review by John Delia

A Trojan horse of a movie, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil brings a powerhouse of Disney magic that will astound and delight everyone. Filled with so many characters that you will want to either see it again on the big screen or get it on home video so you can freeze frame to see every one of the munchkins close up. The direction is incredible keeping the main actors in character in the thick of things with all that’s going around them. And as far as the cinematography goes, it’s a wow. And although it has a lot of adventurous action sequences, this sequel doesn’t get as dark as the first one. Read more…

Review by John Delia

When you turn on the faucet and out comes water, do you really know where it all comes from and how much of it flows on the Earth? Enter the documentary Aquarela with its lavish cinematography of water in all forms everywhere. The move was made by Victor Kossakovsky in which he says that his movie “takes audiences on a deeply cinematic journey through the transformative beauty of the raw power of water.” The film is not a political statement for a cause or even a warning of any kind. Review by John Delia, Sr.

Not the kind of guy that tears up unless it’s a real inspiring film that shows one of the following: extreme courage, bravery and daring, kindhearted sincerity, amazing stamina, or unusual determination. Well Maiden got me holding some drops back with all of the above. The movie reminded me of the never say die attitude of many underdog movies of the past, especially Miracle that pitted the USA against the worse odds of winning. But with Maiden the filmmakers show the astonishing determination of an all-women’s sailing crew that defies all odds. Read more…

Review by John Delia, Sr.

Walt Disney’s Dumbo, an animated hit that was released in 1941, got its live action screen debut this year on the big screen nearly 78 years later and it’s a winner. Now on Blu-ray and other media for the first time, the film brings all the adventure into your living room. Still with a good measure of CGI, Dumbo tells the same adventurous story, but with some new twists. The message plays out as clear as the original film showing that everyone may not be perfect, but has a place in the world. Read more…
