Usually when movies win Oscars, it gives them a little boost at the box office, but the folks behind the recent Best Documentary winner decided that it was less important to make money than to allow as many people as possible to see Citizenfour , so they made it available to stream, totally free.

These movies now streaming will make you forget all about 50 Shades of Grey

The Oscars will be announced this weekend, and so theaters are filling up with the typical “January and February” throwaway stuff ( 50 Shades of Grey being the exception only because it was tied to Valentine’s Day). Movie-streaming services, on the other hand, are highlighting an interesting mix of heavy and light.
