“The Spine of Night” a Powerful Fantasy of Doom

Written Review by John Delia

A story of revenge, freedom from evil and a fight for existence, the animated action adventure film The Spine of Night is now available for home viewing in several formats including 4K. The fantasy level is pretty high here, but most followers of animated mysticism will eat it up. However be cautioned that the film does have an abundance of killing with visuals that are not for the meek. A quote from Gizmodo’s io9 sums it all up “One of the Sickest, Coolest, most Mind-Bending Animated films we’ve ever seen” Read more…

SUPERHOST a Psycho Thriller

Very different and incredibly psychotic the movie Superhost does a good job to entertain their fan base. The film features very good acting, interesting direction and a crew that’s phenomenal. Now that said, is the film perfect for at least 50% of mainstream audiences? My take is probably, especially those that need thrills and are not bothered by the gruesome scenes. Thrill seekers want to get an unexpected scare now and then to keep them glued to the screen and this film has several. Read more…

Review by John M. Delia, Jr.

The world has become a dangerous place and our protection needs super heroes that will perform any job that needs to be done, even those that may result in their extinction. Now, there is another mission that only one team can complete and that team must be made of warriors that have nothing to lose and everything to gain. They are The Suicide Squad! Some may call the film a bit silly, but then aren’t all of DC’s Squad films famous for that? Just sit back and enjoy the chaos. Read more…

“Lucky” Kill and Repeat

Review by John Delia, Sr.

Intentionally confusing, but very farfetched, the film Lucky takes a long time to set up before it lets you down. If anything positive comes from the film it does champion women who do fight back. Read more…

Written Review by John Delia

(also check out Al McGhee’s video chat with director Matthew John Lawrence here at Your Entertainment Ticket)

When you think of a horror film you expect a lot of mayhem, monsters and ghastly scenes, and in the movie Uncle Peckerhead you get all three. The film targets not only the fear fan, but this one works on another level, hard rock music. All in fun, the movie starts out with a slide BASED ON A TRUE STORY and then proceeds to bring out the ghoul and bloody mess that ensues. The film has been released in select theaters so check your local listings. Read more…

“BLACK WATER: ABYSS” Trapped with Crocks

Review by John Delia

The film Black Water: Abyss has a pretty good suspense storyline, but that’s if you haven’t seen the original that spawned this sequel. The crocks are back and they are as mean as ever waiting to feed on new meat. This time they are looking to snag some unaware spelunkers. The film is available in some theaters and at home on VOD. “THE TAX COLLECTOR” Hell in a Handbasket

Review by John Delia

As street gang films go, The Tax Collector is right alongside the most memorable films with a vicious story that should make you shudder. A high octane thriller, the early back story plays out with some nice drama and setup, before going into a hellish cacophony of bullets and explosions. In the middle of it all is the fine acting of Bobby Soto and Shia LaBeouf. Read more…

Sick and Twisted at “TWO HEADS CREEK”

Review by John Delia

A very cool sick and twisted horror comedy Two Heads Creek takes you on the road to Australia for a reunion. Nicely written, acted and directed, if you like wicked bloody action, this one will have you rolling on the floor. A bit over the top, but who’s counting heads in this sordid tale from the “Down Under”? Read more…

“ONE CUT OF THE DEAD” Blood and Zombies

Review by John Delia

Very campy and a bit over the top, the film One Cut of the Dead is out on DVD and a DVD/Blu-ray Steelbook. The film tells the story of a zombie takeover at a deserted water plant as the director is making a movie about zombies. It’s very unique and a fun watch if you can stick with it. If you like the absurd, than this comedy/horror flick may just be your cup of Saki. Read more…

“CREEPSHOW: Season One” Tales of Terror

Review by John Delia

Definitely a guilty pleasure, the series Creepshow has released their first Season on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital. Yes it’s very creepy as the title suggests and it even has a lot of cool stories that are totally ludicrous in a good way to make you laugh. What makes this collective body of work extra special however, is the comic book style introductions and the very hideous monsters you’ll be exposed to. You’ll want to watch it a second time in about 6 months. Read more…
