Not all films about bulling hit the nail on the head, but Butter has the ingredients to reach out to the audience most affected by the social aggressors. Nicely acted, this heartfelt story shows even the intelligent and talented are subjects of the unkindness. A coming of age story Bull tells a heartbreaking film that moves along at a fast pace and never lets up including the unexpected finale. You may have seen several films with this slice of life theme, but this one is really worth watching. The acting is terrific and the direction by Annie Silverstein is excellent making all the elements work without a hitch. Check it out on VOD and Digital. Read more…

Going for a mature teen audience, the series “Looking for Alaska” comes to DVD for home viewing. In a three disc set, the story plays out dealing with teen angst, romance, relationships and sticky situations that involve challenging life choices. The acting is very good establishing solid characters that fit well into the 21st century attitudes, reactions and aspirations. Both comedic and serious, the dealings with schooling, friendships and growing up to the next level play out with some shocking revelations and a finale filled with tragedy. Read more…

Targeted at teens the movie Nerve sets up a very dangerous game that involves taking huge chances and cheating death. The film has adequate acting and able direction, but the storyline does have elements of the impossible. While it’s just a movie to create thrills and suspense, it’s kind of fun to watch, especially the risky scenes involving the dares. Read more…

Sex, drugs and 1970’s San Francisco, what more do you need to tell a story about a coming of age teenager? Fortunately there’s enough to make the movie The Diary of a Teenage Girl, a wild and wacky film that leaves nothing to the imagination. Easy to burst testosterone levels of male teens, this feature should sell a lot of tickets to any PG-13 rated film so they can pull off an auditorium shuffle.  Read more…
