When I see Seth Rogen’s name listed in the cast of a film the first thing that comes to my mind is a wild comedy. But in 50/50 Rogen adjusts his bizarre persona and creates a character that provides the right medicine to a poignant situation. Although the film gets a little sappy at times, it delivers a strong meaningful story.

THE DILEMMA review by Alyn Darnay

This film crawled up and surprised me. I was expecting a light comedy with some dramatic moments, what I got was a serious film with some comedic moments thoughtfully exploring the universal topics of fidelity and friendship, and I liked it. It’s actually hard to describe this film in terms of genre, definitely a ‘bromance’, perhaps a comedy/drama, either way, to me that makes for a true viewers delight.

Here’s an amusing slice of life film that although entertains is riddled with plot tripe and miscasts. It also lives up to its name, Please Give because that’s what you will be doing at the theatre box-office. This Indie could use a rewrite or some key role cast changes.

THE JONESES written review

There’s a new game in town and it’s at the movies. A film called The Joneses features a scam that turns the world upside down in upscale communities. Well of course it’s only fiction, but it does leave the impression of ‘What If?’ That said, the acting carries this flick and it’s very entertaining in spite of some holes in the storyline and a little ‘missed-direction.’ The movie is unique and without a doubt very scarry for those on a middle-income budget. The Joneses plays well to the 24 and above target audience.
