THIS MEANS WAR, review by John Delia

It’s a lot of fun, but This Means War spins out of control at times and the romance gets sidetracked for some awesome spy thrills. I like the acting by the trio of leads and directing by McG isn’t too bad either. If you are woman looking for a romantic night for Valentines Day, however, your date better be a macho man.

SAFE HOUSE, Review by John Delia

If you like your movies with constant action from beginning to end, then go and check out Safe House, a thrill a minute. As a matter of fact, Ryan Reynolds has successfully crossed the line between comedy and drama with a performance like he has never delivered. If all of a sudden you get an epiphany on where the film’s going, not to worry, the predictability even has some enjoyable twists and turns.

THE GREY, review by John Delia

Exciting, terrifying, intriguing and thrilling The Grey provides a stunning entry in the erratic first month of the year. Good acting all around, electrifying cinematography and able direction keeps the film moving and entertaining. If you like a white-knuckle panic film that challenges your worst fears, The Grey will have you in its snarling teeth.

CONTRABAND reviewed by John Delia

I can see why Contraband has been set for release in January, with December being action/adventure month this gem would have been buried in their dust. And that would have been a shame, because this gritty story has a lot going for it. With non-stop thrills, chills and spills this film entertains big time.

KILLER ELITE review by John Delia

The film Killer Elite plays out like you are watching a video game, kill an assassin and move up to the next level. Exciting, power packed and relatively predictable, the film tends to mirror other action movies that have been released this year. The thing that does play better than the rest involves the suspense that comes with trying to decide who really is the bad guy here?

Do you have your Action/Adventure fill for summer, or are you ready for more? Try Rise of the Planet of the Apes for a thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. I like the way Director Rupert Wyatt makes sure each exciting scene develops with emotion, first creating interest, then suspense finalizing in aggressive thrills.

‘UNKNOWN’ Review by John Delia

A very good action mystery Unknown lives up to its compelling trailer. From the exciting opening the film springs to a suspenseful thriller with twists and turns to the final reveal. If you are big fan of Liam Neeson (Taken), and I am, then run to see Unknown.

THE MECHANIC review by John Delia

Explosive, vicious and exhilarating, all the things that men like in a film are jammed into the 92 minutes of The Mechanic. The no-stop assassin drama kept me on the edge of my seat while bombs exploded, bullets flew, death defying stunts performed, knife fights, well you know what Crank was like, but count on double here. If you want to up your testosterone levels, then this is your kick-ass thriller.

SHERLOCK HOLMES

Dr. Watson I presume is one phrase that still comes up today, but was coined by Arthur Conan Doyle in his novels about Sherlock Holmes over half a century ago. Guy Ritchie takes Doyle’s books and creates a movie thriller starring a great cast, excellent sets and a very creative storyline for the screen. Easily in my top ten for 2009, the film is a must see.
