“Mad God” Bizarre and Provoking

Review by John Delia

“If you disobey The and remain hostile to me I will act against you in a wrathful hostility. For my part will discipline you seven fold for your sins…” Leviticus

If you are he fan of the bizarre then Mad God, an animated film for adults, should nicely fit the bill. Touted as being experimental and being praised by the likes of Steven Spielberg, Paul Verhooven and Lucas film President Kathy Kennedy among others, the film takes you into the bowls of a brutal world that survives on the flesh of its inhabitants. The cinematic stop motion, live action and puppetry are amazing. But, be warned as the presentation is extremely gross, violent, stomach churning and revolting.

While the production is rather malicious, it does get memorizing with all the provoking scenes. There’s not much to compare the film with except possibly “Dante’s Inferno An Animated Epic (2015). However, that doesn’t really have the power of this unusual presentation of guts and gore. Stick with the film as it all starts to make sense as more of the plot gets added.

An assassin is sent to the bowls of the earth to deliver a special mechanism that will alter many facades of its inner workings. On his trek he encounters a world of monsters, vermin and freakish dwellers. Director and writer Phil Tippett has been working on his project for many years and what he has produced is amazing to say the least. The story gets uncanny as each set and scene changes the adventure, but watch closely as you may recognized some of today’s provoking world changes.

Mad God has not been rated by the MPAA, but contains extreme violence, gore, some nudity, and a lot more. Although animated it is an adult’s only film that should not be viewed by the immature. For the target audience who like adult animation and horror, the film is a must see.
