Despite the arrival of cloud storage and the ever-decreasing price of data storage, optical media still have a place in computing, especially when it comes to storing bytes in a safe place for a long time. Verbatim has unveiled a new 100GB Blu-ray optical disc, the M-DISC, which promises to store data for as long as 2000 years.

Panasonic Corporation announced today that it has developed the world's first1 Blu-ray DiscTM playback technology supporting the latest technologies such as 4K and High Dynamic Range, which are expected to be adopted in the next generation Blu-ray Disc standards2 .

New DVD to help make cancer treatment less daunting for Canberra patients

A DVD developed by ACT Health will be used to make information available to cancer patients at Canberra Hospital before they start a course of radiation therapy, in the hope that it will alleviate some of their anxiety.
