According to Stanley Kramer’s widow, Kramer was challenged by a friend in the press to make It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World . No one could possibly believe that the man who gave us The Defiant Ones , Inherit the Wind , and Judgement at Nuremberg could do a comedy.
