Surviving Exile on the “Isle of Dogs”

Review by John Delia, Sr.

Offbeat, heavy-handed characters, bleak outcast situations, and moody, it’s a marvelous adventure for those who like Wes Anderson movies. This one however shows his range with an animated film that’s worthy of most Japanese greats. From the opening drum introduction of Isle of Dogs to the heartfelt finale, Anderson captures a cold disturbing environment from which his characters can rise up. If you like offbeat stories produced in stop motion animation in the vein of Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie then this film should not be missed. Read more…

Perfect for children Rapunzel returns to the home screen with “Tangled: Before Ever After”, a fun filled animated film. The animated feature has been rated TV-Y7 for a bit of bedazzling and bungling by the dastardly Lady Caine and her henchmen, but for the most part its fun for the younger set. Read more…

Review by John Delia

Probably the most silly of animated films this year, and that’s good thing for Sing. Enjoyable, very funny, touching and oh incredibly wacky the family film targets children, but the adults will enjoy it a lot more than the average toon. I’m surprised the filmmakers waited so long to put the film in theaters, but with no children’s anime to stop it from becoming a blockbuster, it’s a very possible chance it will. Read more…
